Varanasi, a city known for its rich cultural heritage, is all set to host a grand spectacle on Monday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a roadshow, marking the beginning of his campaign for a third consecutive term from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency.
The roadshow, spanning a distance of five kilometres, will commence with the Prime Minister garlanding a statue of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya at the Lanka Gate of Banaras Hindu University. This gesture pays homage to the renowned educationist and freedom fighter, symbolising the Prime Minister’s respect for the city’s historical and academic significance.
The procession will gracefully traverse through the city, concluding at the revered Kashi Vishwanath temple. Here, the Prime Minister will seek blessings from Baba Vishwanath, embodying the spiritual essence of Varanasi.
Amidst a vibrant display of culture and unity, the roadshow aims to spotlight the remarkable achievements of the central government over the past decade. It resonates with promises fulfilled and milestones attained, reflecting the government’s commitment to the nation’s progress.
The route of the roadshow, which includes Assi, Sonarpura, Jangambari, and Godaulia, features a hundred designated points. These have been arranged to extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister, showcasing the city’s hospitality.
The organisation of the eleven beats, delineating the path from the Malaviya statue to the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Dham, has been entrusted to senior BJP officials and representatives. Their meticulous planning ensures seamless execution and fervent participation, making the event a memorable one.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to file his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14. Varanasi, a stronghold of the BJP and PM Modi, has witnessed his victory in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As the city gears up for the upcoming elections, the roadshow marks the beginning of a new chapter in its vibrant political landscape.
