On the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to honor the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War by visiting the Kargil War Memorial. The visit is scheduled for around 9:20 AM, where Modi will pay tribute to the bravehearts who demonstrated unparalleled courage and dedication in the line of duty.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas marks a significant day in Indian history, commemorating the victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistani troops in the 1999 Kargil conflict. The Prime Minister’s visit to the memorial underscores the nation’s enduring respect and gratitude for the soldiers who defended the country’s sovereignty.
In addition to paying homage, Prime Minister Modi will virtually initiate the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. This ambitious infrastructure project aims to construct a 4.1 km long Twin-Tube tunnel at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu – Padum – Darcha Road. Once completed, the Shinkun La Tunnel will hold the distinction of being the highest tunnel in the world.
The Shinkun La Tunnel is expected to significantly enhance all-weather connectivity to Leh, a crucial development for both military and civilian purposes. The tunnel will facilitate the swift and efficient movement of armed forces and equipment, ensuring better logistical support and strategic mobility in the region.
Beyond its military benefits, the tunnel project is poised to foster substantial economic and social development in Ladakh. Improved connectivity will support regional growth, enhance trade and tourism, and contribute to the overall development of the area.
Prime Minister Modi’s participation in both the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration and the Shinkun La Tunnel Project’s launch highlights his commitment to honoring India’s military heritage and advancing infrastructure development in strategically important regions.
