Prime Minister Narendra Modi Returns from G7 Summit, Highlights India’s Commitment to Global Well-being

New Delhi, July 16, 2024 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Saturday after concluding a significant diplomatic mission at the G7 Summit in Italy’s Apulia region. This marked his first international trip since taking office for the third time. The invitation extended to India as an ‘Outreach Country’ by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni underscored India’s growing influence on the global stage.

During his participation at the summit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in productive discussions with world leaders from the G7 countries — the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and France — along with representatives from the European Union. He expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Italy and affirmed India’s commitment to fostering global partnerships for collective progress.

In his address to the G7 Outreach Session on AI and Energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s advocacy for the Global South and emphasized Africa’s pivotal role in global affairs. He underscored India’s deepening ties with Africa, citing India’s presidency milestone when the African Union secured a permanent seat in the G20.

“India is committed to leveraging technology for human progress while ensuring its transparency, security, accessibility, and responsibility,” remarked PM Modi in a social media post following the summit. He addressed the transformative role of artificial intelligence in various facets of development, stressing the importance of cybersecurity in an increasingly digital world.

The summit discussions encompassed a wide array of topics crucial to global stability and prosperity, reflecting India’s proactive stance on issues ranging from climate action to economic resilience.
