Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public rally in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, underscored the BJP government’s commitment to the welfare of the SC-ST, OBC communities. He contrasted this with the approach of the Congress-DMK INDI alliance, accusing them of denying these communities access to basic amenities.
Housing for All
The Prime Minister highlighted the BJP government’s efforts to provide housing to crores of people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). This initiative is aimed at providing affordable housing to the urban poor, with a special focus on the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low Income Groups (LIG), and Middle Income Groups (MIG).
Electrification of Villages
Modi also pointed out that the BJP government has succeeded in bringing electricity to every village in the country. This has been achieved through the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), a scheme aimed at providing continuous power supply to rural India.
Food Security for the Needy
The Prime Minister further mentioned the provision of free ration to 80 crore needy people. This has been made possible through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a food security welfare scheme launched by the Government of India during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister’s speech was a clear indication of the BJP’s commitment to the welfare of the SC-ST, OBC communities. It will be interesting to see how these initiatives shape the political landscape of Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
