Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering in Ahmedabad, highlighted the city’s extraordinary journey of transformation, calling it a model of urban development and modern growth.
PM Modi recalled how Ahmedabad was once associated with dust-filled streets and neglected rivers, but has now emerged as a world-class destination. He credited the city’s revival to years of consistent development and people’s active participation in building a cleaner and more vibrant urban space.
The Prime Minister particularly mentioned the Sabarmati Riverfront, which has become a landmark of modern India and a symbol of how urban spaces can be revitalised to serve as centres of culture, leisure, and tourism. He also spoke about Kankaria Lake and Kids City, which have been developed as family-friendly destinations, attracting lakhs of visitors every year.
“Ahmedabad has become a clean, vibrant, and world-recognized tourist hub. The development of its lakes, riverfront, and public spaces reflects how modern infrastructure can transform lives,” PM Modi said.
He further noted that the city is now ready to host major concerts, cultural programs, and international sports events, showcasing its readiness to stand alongside the world’s top urban centres.
Calling Ahmedabad a shining example of India’s urban renaissance, PM Modi said the city’s growth was a testament to the government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive development, where heritage and modernity coexist.
