Zagreb, Croatia — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a joint press meet with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, reaffirmed India’s commitment to diplomacy and global peace while announcing plans to significantly strengthen bilateral ties.

In a strong message aimed at ongoing global conflicts, PM Modi said, “Solutions to problems—whether in Europe or Asia—cannot come from battlefields. Dialogue and diplomacy is the only way forward.” The leaders pledged to triple the pace of cooperation across a broad spectrum of sectors including defence, digital technology, space, renewable energy, cybersecurity, agriculture, and tourism.

Modi emphasized that terrorism is the enemy of humanity and must be opposed universally. He welcomed Croatia’s support in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.

A key outcome of the meeting was the announcement of a long-term roadmap for defence collaboration, which includes joint R&D, training, and military exchanges. India will also assist Croatia in building space capabilities and explore partnerships in semiconductors and clean technology.

On the cultural front, both nations agreed to extend the Hindi Chair at Zagreb University until 2030 and implement a five-year cultural exchange program, aimed at deepening people-to-people ties.

PM Modi’s visit marks a pivotal moment in India–Croatia relations, setting a progressive and strategic tone for the future. As global dynamics shift, the leaders underscored that peace, cooperation, and mutual respect must guide international relations.
