J&K – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, assured the completion of the long-stalled Shahpurkandi Dam project. He emphasized his commitment to the project, stating, “Modi ki guarantee yani guarantee pura hone ki guarantee” (Modi’s guarantee is the guarantee of completion).
The Prime Minister recalled the decades of delay in the project under previous Congress governments. He highlighted the plight of the farmers in Jammu, whose fields remained dry and villages in darkness, while the water of the Ravi River flowed into Pakistan.
“Remember how the weak governments of Congress kept the Shahpurkandi Dam stalled for decades,” PM Modi said, pointing out the inaction of the previous administrations. He contrasted this with his government’s proactive approach to the issue.
The Prime Minister further stated that he had given a guarantee to the farmers and has also fulfilled it. This statement is seen as an assurance to the farmers of Jammu that their interests are being taken care of by the current government.
The completion of the Shahpurkandi Dam is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, including irrigation for farmlands and electricity generation. This move is seen as a significant step towards self-sufficiency for the region and a boost to the local economy.
The Prime Minister’s address was well-received by the attendees of the rally, who expressed hope and optimism for the future of their region.
