Kargil, Ladakh –
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War. He was speaking at the Sarhad Shauryathon 2025, a tribute marathon organized annually by the Indian Army to honour the spirit of valor and sacrifice.
“I congratulate all the runners who participated in the Shauryathon. Because of the bravery of our soldiers, Kargil is proudly a part of India, and today we sit here in peace,” said Shinde. He highlighted the emotional and patriotic significance of the event, which has been conducted for the past eight years, bringing together civilians, veterans, and defence personnel.
In a boost to war memorial tourism, Shinde announced that the Maharashtra government has contributed ₹3 crore towards the Kargil War Memorial for the development of a laser light and sound show. The initiative aims to preserve the memory of the heroic battle and promote tourism in the region.
The contribution is part of a larger vision to ensure that the stories of India’s brave soldiers are passed on to future generations in engaging ways. The laser show is expected to attract tourists, students, and families to Kargil, deepening public connection with the history of India’s military triumph.
