In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with Mr. Nukaga Fukushiro, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, and his distinguished delegation, which included Japanese lawmakers and top business executives. The meeting, held in New Delhi, was pivotal in highlighting and enhancing the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations.
The discussions emphasized several key areas of mutual interest, including advancing people-to-people ties and reinforcing parliamentary exchanges, which both leaders deemed essential for a stronger bilateral relationship.
One of the focal points of the meeting was the progress made towards the 5 trillion Japanese Yen investment goal set for the period of 2022 to 2027. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing investments and explored opportunities to further strengthen economic and business ties in the years following this period. The conversation also addressed collaboration in both traditional manufacturing sectors, known as monzukuri, and modern industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), and green energy technologies.
Mr. Nukaga Fukushiro also proposed a forward-looking initiative aimed at nurturing and training the next generation of professionals through comprehensive programs. These would include training in Japanese language, culture, and work practices, designed to bridge the gap between the two countries and enhance bilateral cooperation. He emphasized the role of the private sector in supporting these educational and training efforts.
Prime Minister Modi responded by highlighting India’s favorable business climate and the recent reforms designed to attract more Japanese investment and technology.
